Bring expertise
to a precise question.
Choose a candidate chapter, identify the comparison you could help resolve, and describe the resources it would require. A collaboration begins with a defined scope.
The expertise we would need.
Polymer and interface scientists could qualify the polar and microalgal material concepts. Protein chemists and optical-measurement specialists could develop interpretable biochemical-light comparisons. Lipid and formulation scientists could examine botanical oils and archaeal carrier concepts.
Process engineers, analytical scientists and cosmetic safety specialists would be needed at the appropriate stage. Business development and intellectual-property expertise would connect the scientific work with a transferable offer. These are prospective project roles, not funded vacancies or a claim of an assembled team.
Introduce your relevant expertise →What a useful introduction contains.
Name the candidate reference and chapter. Explain the scientific question you could resolve, the method you would use and the practical limits of the result. State whether facilities, material access and time are already available or would need funding.
Keep the first introduction non-confidential. Do not send protected compositions, unpublished enabling methods or third-party confidential data. Responsibilities, background rights, foreground rights, publication and funding would be agreed before work begins.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships: UKRI’s published timetable lists round four as 19 October 2026 to 20 January 2027. Future listed rounds open 8 February and 26 April 2027. Dates remain subject to change. A knowledge-base partner leads the application; the business must meet the applicable competition conditions and contribute to costs.
The earlier 2026 round requires a UK business with two or more full-time employees. VARUNÉ’s eligibility for a future application has not been established. Recheck the actual round rules and business capacity before investing in an application.

Scottish Enterprise R&D support: an adviser-led route to investigate where the project and business meet the requirements and benefit the Scottish economy. A founder’s Scottish connection alone does not establish eligibility.
Scottish Enterprise R&D grants →Space is a separate qualification.
A material that comes from an extreme environment is not automatically a space technology. A space-related proposal would need a genuine mission or customer requirement, an appropriate terrestrial comparator and a method capable of testing the effect being claimed.
UK Space Agency funding routes change by call. The current ACCESS guidance includes application-related opportunities and explicitly excludes UK support for some routes. Those calls are not presented here as a match or an award for cosmetic research.
Current official call guidance →Funding readiness comes before submission.
A viable package needs an eligible lead, a buyer or application problem, defined novelty, permitted material access, accountable delivery roles and a quoted budget. It must state the comparator, the result that would change the next decision and the terms for using the outcome.
The 250 chapters are a resource for selecting a bounded programme. They are not a commitment to recruit or fund 250 concurrent projects. A prospective grant is not part of confirmed runway until it is awarded and its conditions are understood.
