The commercial opportunity
A research portfolio.
A business built
around useful outcomes.
The investment case must connect a material advantage with a buyer, a repeatable way to deliver it and rights that support commercial use.
A large market is context.
L’Oréal’s 2025 Universal Registration Document estimates the global beauty market at approximately €300 billion in 2025. Its estimate uses a defined cosmetics-market perimeter. This is industry context, not VARUNÉ’s addressable market or a revenue forecast.
Our initial opportunity sits within the budgets of formulation teams, ingredient businesses and research partners. Consumer beauty spending cannot be treated as the market for a research service, nor can an assumed share of that total establish a valuation.
L’Oréal 2025 market estimate and definition →What the company could sell.
A scoped research brief would help a buyer choose a comparison and understand the evidence gap. A separately agreed experimental programme could test that comparison through qualified delivery arrangements. Pricing, facilities and ownership would be established for the actual scope.
With suitable original evidence and rights, subsequent routes could include licensing a qualified material, licensing a process, supplying a research tool or maintaining an evidence service that repeatedly changes a customer’s decision. No available ingredient, recurring revenue, paid contract or manufacturing capacity is implied by this proposed model.
The addressable market to establish.
A defensible serviceable market needs a verified account list, the relevant annual project budgets, procurement requirements and the share of those projects that VARUNÉ can lawfully and competently deliver. The near-term obtainable market is then constrained by scientific capacity, selling time and cash.
Those inputs have not yet been validated. The scenario below exposes two assumptions so that an investment discussion can test them. It is an annual service-fee opportunity for a hypothetical qualified account set, not an audited TAM or a forecast.
Illustrative annual research-service scenario
Build the market from
a deliverable project.
Projects × average fee = illustrative annual gross service fees. Inputs are unvalidated assumptions. This excludes delivery costs, tax, working capital, win rate, sales cycle, licence income and capacity constraints. It is not profit, contracted revenue or a prediction. The milestone capital should buy.
First establish one buyer-relevant comparison, with a scientific lead, a qualified material, permitted use and a quoted delivery budget. The output should demonstrate whether the candidate deserves further development and whether a customer will pay for the next stage.
An investor information request should specify the candidate or commercial route of interest, the intended funding range, decision timetable and the evidence the investor needs. A private discussion can then address budget, rights, capital structure and terms using verified company information.
Request investor information →What would weaken the case.
A broad catalogue without focus can consume runway. A technically interesting result without a buyer may not become a business. A material advantage without transferable rights may not create a defensible asset. A service price without delivery economics can conceal a loss.
We would address these risks with bounded programmes and explicit stop decisions. The public library is an option set for selection. It is not a claim that every direction will become a product or that the company has earned an investment outcome.
